Utah vs. Colorado State - Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl

Price: Tickets range from $35 - $120

12:30 PM, Saturday, December 20, 2014
Sam Boyd Stadium at UNLV: 7000 East Russell Road, Las Vegas, NV 89122

Who will it be? It’s the Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl at the UNLV Sam Boyd Stadium: Utah vs. Colorado State: The (8-4 ranked) Utah Utes face off against the (10-2 ranked) Colorado State Rams in the Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl! Will the Utes show as the true kings of Los Angeles? Thrilling last-minute wins at UCLA and home to USC suggest they most certainly are. The Rams’ offense ranked 13th nationally while averaging 498 yards per game, and that helped fuel a nine-game winning streak- not bad! A comeback victory at Boston College helped unleash that tear. And a win against in-state rival Colorado to kick off the season is always a big deal in Fort Collins. So who will you be cheering on? Colorado or Utah?

So what is the Las Vegas Bowl? It will be the 23rd edition of the game, which is now the 16th-oldest bowl in the FBS lineup. Owned and operated by ESPN Events, the Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl has been held each December since 1992, and boasted sold-out attendance in seven of the last nine years at Sam Boyd Stadium. Annually hosting the top choice from the Mountain West vs. a Pacific-12 Conference opponent, last year's game attracted the second-biggest crowd to see a team sporting event in state history as 42,178 fans watched No. 25 USC defeat No. 20 Fresno State 45-20 on ABC TV. The 2014 Las Vegas Bowl features the champion or first selection from the Mountain West (MW) against the sixth selection from the Pacific-12 Conference (Pac-12).

The Smith Center showcases the best in Las Vegas theater, dance and music- Enjoy a show and Vegas Culture!

The Smith Center

showcases the best in Las Vegas

theater, dance and music- Enjoy a show and Vegas Culture!

This world-class performing arts center was built to showcase the very best in theater, dance and music from around the world. Below are some of the amazing upcoming performances scheduled at the Smith Center. Plan a date night or family friendly outing with the kids and experience some of Las Vegas' Finest culture.

IMAGINATION is extraordinary.

What if dreams came to life before your eyes? They can. Featuring a full orchestra and larger-than-life landscapes, Nevada Ballet Theatre’s The Nutcracker has been called “the most visually beautiful production ever staged in Reynolds Hall” by the Las Vegas Sun. Artistic Director James Canfield transforms the theater into a wonderland of moonlit snow and waltzing flowers as Clara and her Nutcracker Prince dance along the borderline of imagination and reality. Return this winter and be part of the cherished holiday tradition that speaks to the child in all of us.

Ring out the old and ring in the new with Michael Feinstein, the multi-platinum-selling, two-time Emmy® and five-time Grammy® Award-nominated entertainer dubbed “The Ambassador of the Great American Songbook.”

This celebratory New Year’s Eve performance will also feature special guests Laura Osnes, Broadway star and Tony® nominee, and American Idol’s Jessica Sanchez, in a magical evening of America’s most celebrated standards performed as only this talented trio can.

RE-ANIMATOR THE MUSICAL tells the bizarre story of Herbert West, a young medical student who has discovered a glowing green serum that can bring the dead back to life…with catastrophic results.

Based on the cult classic H.P. LOVECRAFT’S RE-ANIMATOR, this award-winning horror comedy is helmed by Stuart Gordon (who also directed the film) and features a Splash Zone for those who enjoy a little splatter! Variety writes “Not since LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS has a screamfest tuner so deftly balanced seriousness and camp.”

Ira Glass, host of This American Life, and Monica Bill Barnes & Company Productions have been working together to combine two art forms that – as Ira puts it – “have no business being together – dance and radio.” The result is a funny, lively and heartfelt evening of dance and stories that has brought down the house wherever it’s been performed, starting with its first test run at Carnegie Hall in 2013.

The show includes radio interviews restaged as dance pieces, plus stories from the lives of each of the three performers, Ira Glass, Monica Bill Barnes and Anna Bass. “What makes it work is a shared sensibility,” Glass says. “As dancers, Monica and Anna are these amazingly relatable and funny storytellers without words.” Bass notes, “I think it’s still blowing Ira’s mind to see some of the radio pieces remade this way, with props and costume changes and lighting cues.” Barnes adds, “combining these art forms has led to a show that’s unlike anything I’ve ever choreographed before.”

As the title indicates, the show is in three acts. Act one is about the job of being a performer. Act two: falling in love and what it means to stay in love. Act three: nothing lasts forever. “People who like This American Life will probably like this,” says Glass “because it’s just like the radio show, um, if you picture dancing during all the stories.”

THE BLOCKBUSTER MUSICAL RETURNS STARRING DIANA DeGARMO AND ACE YOUNG

One of the most enduring shows of all time, Tim Rice & Andrew Lloyd Webber’s JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT is the irresistible family musical about the trials and triumphs of Joseph, Israel’s favorite son.

Directed and choreographed by Tony Award® winner Andy Blankenbuehler, this new production will feature Broadway/television star Diana DeGarmo (Hairspray, Hair) as The Narrator and Broadway star Ace Young (Grease, Hair) as Joseph.

Retelling the Biblical story of Joseph, his eleven brothers and the coat of many colors, this magical musical is full of unforgettable songs including Those Canaan Days, Any Dream Will Do and Close Every Door. Book your tickets and be part of the magic!

One of the world’s most acclaimed, award-winning composer/songwriters, Burt Bacharach, helped define the music of the 20th and 21st centuries. Now the three-time Academy Award winner and eight-time Grammy winner will perform with his band of three singers and seven musicians some of his greatest hits including Alfie, Any Day Now, Anyone Who Had A Heart, Close To You, I Say A Little Prayer, On My Own, Raindrops Keep Fallin’ On My Head, The Look of Love, and Walk on By.

Platinum-selling, 14-year-old vocal sensation Jackie Evancho returns with her third studio album, Awakening, and coinciding international tour. Awakening signals some new directions for Evancho. Without foregoing the beautiful and lush classical-crossover compositions for which Evancho has become famous, she also extends her stylistic reach with contemporary material on songs such as the haunting folk song “The Rains of Castamere” from HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones. She also takes a bigger step forward on her version of U2’s “With or Without You.” Moreover, Evancho sings several original songs including the anthem “Take Me There” and “Open Fields of Grace.”
