Art. Music.
Food. Foundation Shops. And people.
Just a few reasons #WhyVegasIsAwsome this weekend!
First
Friday-Who can think of a better way to spend a Friday evening in Las Vegas?
If you think
"Las Vegas culture" is an oxymoron? You must not have visited Sin City's monthly
First Friday festival. Join us and experience it for yourself! Look no farther
than “downtown's burgeoning Arts District” and visit its growing number of
galleries. Bursting
with applicant submissions, you must submit and be approved by the First Friday
jury process to be considered as an artist participant. Art ranging from canvas
to medals and refurbished trash have a special look when on display for all to
see in the culturally diverse way. Come hungry. Once called roach coaches- the
recent excitement around gourmet food trucks will leave you with a full belly
and happy heart. Or sit down and enjoy dinner at one of the local restaurants.
First Friday takes place on various streets around City Center and
Colorado. Shuttles run from various locations as nearby parking is limited and it
can be challenging maneuvering large SUV’s out of small parking lots nearby. So
put on your walking shoes or hang out and watch a show as you see Las Vegas
driving skills at their worst. It can be pretty funny.
So when does
this all happen? Just as the name indicates it’s on the “First Friday” of each
month, when Downtown Las Vegas hosts this open free street event that starts at
5:00pm. With a buzz like no other, hear from live bands, enjoy tasty treats
from the short lines at the gourmet food trucks, artist displays like no other and
visit the little local shops that depend on you to buy local, be entertained by
the street shows and exhibits and breathe in the open air.
Bring the
kiddos early. The scene begins to shift a bit from a “kid
friendly” environment in the early evening to a more mature crowd as the night
progresses and as the evening “wines” down around 11pm. It’s a fun place share time with a group of
friends or a cool place to spend “date night”. There is something that fits into everyone’s idea of
#WhyVegasIsAwesome.
