Recycle, re-use and illuminate! It's Container Park...
Container Park in Las Vegas is a family-kid-friendly
outdoor entertainment, dinning, and shopping destination made
completely of shipping containers stacked upon each other. This Las
Vegas venue offers a wide variety of gourmet restaurants
and boutique style shops along with a kid's play area that boasts a 30
foot tall tree-house with slides and water features in the middle of the
square. Kids of all ages can race around and play with the NEOS
Playworld System, a super cool electronic game with flashing lights. All
aboard as the monkeys take control of the train that runs on the
railroad tracks.
Recycle, re-use and illuminate! Positioned at its entrance, stands a 55-foot-tall, steel, mobile praying mantis that happens to be built atop a dump truck! This unique piece of art was sculpted for a Burning Man event by Kirk Jellum and Kristen Ulmer, it now lives downtown at the corner of 7th and Fremont Streets.
The night time scene changes a bit with the bright lights go on and the
good time Las Vegas is known for switches from a family friendly
environment to a 21 and over scene after 9:00 PM, as the changing glow
of the Catalyst Dome assists in the illumination of this destination. Various musical groups are featured on the outdoor amphitheater
nightly. The park is filled with small galleries, fashion shops and
eateries. There are plenty of new dining and drinking outlets to wet
your whistle or calm the late night rumble.Recycle, re-use and illuminate! Positioned at its entrance, stands a 55-foot-tall, steel, mobile praying mantis that happens to be built atop a dump truck! This Downtown project is a part of the community revitalization plan funded by Zappos.com CEO Tony Hsieh. It’s about re-using and engaging downtown. “This area spans approximately 19,000 square feet with a mix of 30 shipping containers and 41 multifunctional modular cubes forming its perimeter. Each cube is a steel-framed structure that measures 250 square feet and can easily form a variety of portable configurations.”
Fire breathing bugs, green grass, a tree house, gourmet food, live music and shopping. What could be better than time spent at Container Park? Oh- yeah... Did I mention free admission? Check out our video below about Downtown Container park and #WhyVegasIsAwesome...
